The Granger Chart can help to visualize the Gamut of a monitor or printer.

A Granger Chart can be generated using Photshop CS4 and using the following procedure:
  • File : New : Width:1800, Height:1200, Resolution:300, RGB, 16-Bit, Background:White : Ok
  • Left Tools : Gradient Tool : Gradient Picker Menu : 'Spectrum'
  • Mode: Normal
  • Opacity: 100%
  • Hold-Shift + Mouse-draw LeftEdge-to-RightEdge
  • Layer : New : Layer : Layer 1 : Ok
  • Left Tools : Gradient Tool : Gradient Picker Menu : 'Black, White'
  • Mode: Normal
  • Opacity: 100%
  • Hold-Shift + Mouse-draw BottomEdge-to-TopEdge
  • Double-Click 'Layer 1' thumbnail : Layer Styles menu box appears : Blending Style : Luminosity : Ok
  • Layer : Flatten Image - to merge Layer 1 with Background
  • Save image as 'CT-Granger_4x6_300ppi.tif'

The Grainger gamut is mathematically generated so expect that not all colors will be viewable.
